Estrada Courts, located in Boyle Heights and one of L.A.'s oldest housing projects, was built to address the housing shortage as Los Angeles and the surrounding region became a major center for military-related manufacturing during WW2
Several years ago I took a stroll through the Estrada Courts housing projects to document some of it's well known and maybe not so well known murals. I photographed just a few of the 80 murals that were painted by Chicano and Chicana muralists with the help of young residents back in the early 70's
I had the opportunity to sit down with Adrian Huerta to record an episode of his podcast, The Creative Dad Pod, and share a bit of my creative journey and how I’ve balanced that with being a Father and now Grandfather. You can watch the complete episode on YouTube here.

Wow! Has it been 3 years already? 3 years since Mi Vida Boutique offered me my first solo show. Mi Vida reached out to me on IG in May of '13 offering me a solo show. What!?!? That was intimidating and not something I ever expected but with the encouragement of my wife, Anna, and friends, hell, I went for it. Did pretty good too I must say. ¡Mark Your Calendars!"#SouledOut", my final solo show of 2015 is going down Dec 12th at @futurestudiola in #HighlandPark. We know we're in for a challenge getting the #YorkBlvd crowd to the #FigueroaSt side of #NELAArtwalk but we're looking forward to a good time none the less.If you're in the HLP area you can pick up a flyer at @antiguabread and @shopmivida. That build took a year to complete and was the work of Aaron Valencia, founder of Lost Angeles Childrens Project. I applaud the work Aaron and others are doing to help make a positive impact in the lives of impoverished youth on L.A.'s Skid Row so you can believe I was honored and extremely humbled to hear that Lost Angel's founder, Aaron Valencia, not only digs my work but also thought I'd be able to help his amazing cause. My Dad has told me many times, "You ain't living unless you're giving." and I agree. Being able to use...
